OMS Original DSR1 Specification
Chassis: Fully TIG welded steel space frame single seat chassis with SCCA specified roll and dash hoops, chassis is constructed of mainly round tube in a
fully triangulated layout.
Bodywork: Body work will be in GRP and is based upon a combination of existing OMS Open Wheel and Sportscar bodywork modified to comply with SCCA
DSR rules. Rear wing will be mounted on a central post as per the Open Wheel racing car and will be constructed from Carbon Fibre. Full undertray and rear Venturi will be used to augment
the rear wing. Front down force will be achieved via undertray and splitter.
Engine: Kawasaki ZX11/10 hybrid. Keihen carbs, mild head porting job, Fox dry sump pan, custom headers.
Suspension: Front and Rear is by unequal length wishbones with push rod operated rockers giving rising rate. Basic adjustable dampers will be supplied with
the car but any make of damper can be specified when ordering the car. Steering is via custom built Titan Steering rack. Uprights Front and Rear are fabricated steel uprights with one piece
modular style wheel bearings. Rear uprights are a modular design so can accommodate various tyre sizes and ride heights without upsetting suspension geometry.
Brakes: Front are cross drilled discs with aluminium top hat, rear are cross drilled with integral top hat. Callipers front and rear are Wilwood Dynalite 4
pots. Brake balance via dual master cylinder and brake balance bar.
Wheels: Wheels are OMS’s own wheels which are a 3 piece aluminium design and will be attached to the car using a centre lock system. Sizes will be 7"
front and 10" rear but any size can be specified when ordering. Magnesium alloy is an option for the wheel centres.
Driveline: Differential will be by Quaiffe mounted in OMS differential carrier with integral chain tension adjuster system.
Inboard CV joint are tri-lobe style with automotive style outboard CV joints.
Cooling: Engine cooling will be achieved via 32 row oil cooler and custom made aluminium water radiator mounted in the
sidepods.

Chassis Construction
The three pictures here show the chassis early in the build phase in the prototype shop. As can be seen the chassis is fully triangulated and the SCCA mandated roll over structure has been
fully incorporated into the chassis.
The
rear of the chassis is upswept to allow for a more efficient venturi to be installed and still clear the wishbones etc. This chassis has been built around the ZX10 engine in dry sump
configuration but any of the modern motorcycle power units can be used.
August 12, 2001: Paul Shipp wins his first SCCA DSR National race at Grattan.
June 3, 2001: Paul qualified 3rd and finished 5th at the Mid-Ohio National, with the new car straight out of the shipping crate.
