The Technology of traXstar

The traXstar tX-1 sports racing car employs a unique architecture: Unlike all other designs, the tX-1 has its engine and gearbox amidships alongside the driver. This lowers polar moment by concentrating the mass of the car in its center and produces the most compact aerodynamic envelope.

The Sports Car Club Of America (SCCA) homologates the traXstar - U.S. Patent # 5,199,526 - as a “D Sports Racing Car” or “DSR”.

In accordance with SCCA regulations, the tX-1 is built around a steel tube space frame. The frame’s innovative design based on computer finite element analysis (FEA) yields a high level of perimeter protection for the driver and torsional stiffness of 10,000 ft/lbs per degree.

A superbike engine powers the tX-1. Unlike all other designs in which the engine and gearbox are positioned behind the driver with the frame and suspension wrapped tightly around them, the traXstar’s power unit is in a separate bay with excellent accessibility. Different engines can easily be adapted without structural modifications.
